The season is pretty much lost for the New York Knicks, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get some good news.

The team sits at the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, with a 34-42 record.

With only six games left, it’s next to impossible for them to outrun the Atlanta Hawks and grab the tenth seed.

But they still have some shining moments as their disappointing season draws to a close.

One of the brightest aspects of the team is RJ Barrett, who only gets better.

In his first year, he averaged 14.3 points per game.

In his second, 17.6.

This year he has stepped up and is now averaging 20 points per game.

Knicks fans have been crazy about Barrett for a while and now the rest of the league understands why.

It’s too late for the Knicks, but Barrett proves he could be a big part of their future.

Barrett is playing

On Monday night, Barrett notched 28 points, alongside other notable performances from Alec Burks (27 points) and Obi Toppin (17 points).

Obviously if the team wants to be strong next season they will have to rely on these guys and find a way to help them shine even brighter.

But will Barrett be enough to help the Knicks beat the Hawks this year?

They are currently 4.5 games behind the Hawks.

The possibility that they could overtake Atlanta seems very, very unlikely.

This does not mean that the fire in their bellies will diminish.

Barrett did better on Monday night after the Knicks defeated the Bulls.

“We fight no matter what,” Barrett told SportsNet.
