Rittenhouse Saga “pleads the case” against the AR-15s

Beto O’Rourke suggested during a CNN appearance State of the Union that the Kyle Rittenhouse saga “argues” against the ownership of the AR-15.

Host Dana Bash asked O’Rourke to comment on Rittenhouse’s “not guilty” verdict. O’Rourke replied:

All of this tragedy shows that we should not allow our fellow Americans to own and use weapons that were originally designed for use on the battlefield. This AR-15, this AK-47, has one purpose, and that is to kill people as efficiently, as efficiently, and in as many numbers in as little time as possible.

He added: “We saw this in Kenosha, we saw this in El Paso, Texas where 23 people were murdered by someone with an AK-47 within minutes.”

O’Rourke then returned to his governorship in Texas, where he says he wants to “protect the Second Amendment” and increase gun control at the same time.

On December 4, 2019, Breitbart News reported figures from the National Shooting Sports Foundation showing Americans owned around 420 million firearms at that time, of which around 18 million were AR-15s and similar rifles.
