Ride a group bike, run 500 miles in a week for children’s hospitals

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A group of people raise money for local children’s hospitals by embarking on a 500 mile bike ride/run.

Adriano Viera and his team call it the Texas 500. The group will start in Dallas on Sunday May 1 and at Bike to Austin. After that, they will return to Dallas. The goal is to complete their journey within a week.

Viera said that this cause is close to her heart.

“Even before our family had children, I was very moved by the struggles of children who go through medical conditions and who are hospitalized and all these difficulties that they go through,” he said. “Then, of course, we start having children and it becomes a stronger feeling for us.”

Viera created this challenge as a way to show her support for the children struggling in these hospitals and hopes it will inspire others to help the cause.

His team’s goal is to raise $75,000 for three children’s hospitals in Texas. Children’s Medical in Dallas, St. Jude’s and Children’s Hospital of Richmond.
