Richard Sherman is “in extensive talks” with Amazon

It looks like Richard Sherman could be the latest NFL player to make the transition from grill to studio TV.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Super Bowl-winning cornerback is “in deep talks” with Amazon, which is picking up Thursday Night Football coverage at the start of the 2022 season.

It’s not yet clear what kind of role Sherman would play on the TNF show. Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit have already been selected as the play-by-play duo for the weekly match.

Rapoport says the 34-year-old Sherman will stay fit should another NFL opportunity arise, even though he’s been injury-limited in recent seasons. He made a brief appearance with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, recording one interception, 11 tackles and a recovering fumble for four yards in five games played.

Sherman has made more headlines for his off-court behavior in recent years. During his senior year with the San Francisco 49ers, he was arrested for drunk driving and later filmed trying to break into his in-laws’ house.

The Compton, Calif. native also has a weekly podcast, aptly titled The Richard Sherman Podcast, where he dives deep into all things NFL.
