Republicans for ‘extreme’ Democrats to hold majority at home

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said on MSNBC’s “All In” on Tuesday that the Republican Party had become so “extreme” that he believed Democrats would “defy history” and retain a majority in the House when midterm elections in November.

When asked about the Democrats’ midterm message, Jeffries said, “We’re going to continue to work on a program that lowers costs for ordinary Americans, and we’ve delivered in some areas, on the costs of l ‘energy, on prescription drug prices on health care costs.’

He continued: “We have led the president-led environment where gas prices are now down for nine straight weeks. Every day of the summer, gasoline prices have fallen. Job creation remains strong. Of course, we recognize that much remains to be done, and this election is not a referendum. It’s a choice.”

Jeffries added, “The choice is Democrats delivering by putting people above politics and extreme Republicans. They are extreme on reproductive freedom. They want to criminalize abortion. They are extreme on social security. In fact, they want to be done with it in five years. And, of course, extreme on democracy. Chris, apparently they don’t believe it anymore. So we believe that when we can go to voters with a very clear choice, we have a strong chance of defying history and holding a majority in the House of Representatives.
