Rep. Lauren Boebert’s horrifying take on the Denmark shooting has been called stupidly ‘deadly’

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) seized on the recent shooting at a Copenhagen mall as proof that strict gun control laws aren’t working. However, she failed to point out that it was the first mass shooting in Denmark in seven years.

The United States had more mass shootings this past weekend.

“There was just one mass shooting in Denmark, a country with some of the strictest gun laws in Europe. It’s time to admit that gun laws DO NOT STOP mass shootings! » tweeted the Republican gun fanatic, who once had her kids pose for a Christmas photo holding assault rifles.

A gunman killed three people and injured four others at a shopping center in the Danish capital last Sunday. Police said the 22-year-old suspected shooter had mental health issues and was armed with a rifle when arrested.

Denmark has some of the strictest gun laws in Europe. Gun possession licenses are generally only available for hunting or sport shooting after the buyer has passed a background check. There is an almost complete ban on automatic weapons and the carrying of weapons in public is prohibited. The last mass shooting in the country was in 2015, when two people and the shooter were killed in a terrorist attack.

According to Gun Violence Archive, the United States suffered several mass shootings over the July 4 weekend, including one during an Independence Day parade in a suburb of Chicago that left six people dead. There have been more than 300 mass shootings — incidents in which 4 or more people were shot or killed — in the United States this year.

Critics immediately shredded Boebert’s argument:
