Renato Sanches: Wolves in talks to sign Portuguese midfielder from Lille | Football news

Wolves are in talks to loan Portuguese international midfielder Renato Sanches from Lille.

Sanches is currently recovering from a knee injury and faces another month, but Wolves are still hoping to finalize a deal before Tuesday’s deadline.

The 24-year-old has rejuvenated his career at Lille after leaving Bayern Munich for France in 2019.

He managed five goals and five assists in 60 appearances for Lille and helped them win Ligue 1 last season.

Sanches had a breakout tournament with Portugal at Euro 2016, which led to the German champions signing him from Benfica.

After struggling in his debut Bundesliga season, Sanches had a tough Premier League loan season with Swansea under Paul Clement, having failed to score in 15 appearances.

When will the Wolves be lucky?

Three games after the start of this fledgling Premier League season, and Wolves are in the final three scoreless and scoreless under new manager Bruno Lage.

The home side threw everything at Manchester United, especially at the start with Raul Jimenez and Trincao closing in, but their defensively disjointed visitors latched on and snatched a controversial winner late in the day thanks to Mason Greenwood.

It was a baptism of fire for Lage, who, after witnessing a third straight 1-0 loss, must wonder when his luck is about to turn.
