Eden Hazard is facing another injury setback, after it was confirmed he will undergo another ankle surgery.
The Real Madrid winger will have a plate removed from his right leg, which was put in place after he broke his ankle in March 2020.
A statement from the club read: “In the coming days, our player, Eden Hazard, will undergo surgery to remove the osteosynthesis plate from his right fibula.”
The Belgian hasn’t lived up to expectations since his £98m move to Madrid from Chelsea in 2019.
He made just 65 appearances and struggled to find his best form due to numerous injury issues preventing him from showing the form he had in the Premier League.
And he’s ready for another spell on the sidelines, with Radio Brand reporting that he will be out for about a month.
That will rule him out of a return to face his former club in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, when Real take on the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
With players like Vinicius Junior impressing at the Bernabeu and talks that Kylian Mbappe could sign for the club, Hazard’s future at Real remains uncertain to say the least.
