Real estate fraud: a couple forced to return to their parents with their five children

Two parents, who were hoping to move into their new home with their five children, were instead forced to pack up and move back in with their parents, after falling into the trap of a fraudulent real estate agent who allegedly stripped them of $48,000.

“It’s maddening how you can have no remorse… He wasn’t a bad boy. But he clearly stole from us, and not just us,” lamented the father of the family, Damien, as part of the filing of a collective bringing together 36 alleged victims of the real estate agent, according to “Le Parisien,” reported “France Live” on Tuesday.

The father of five children will have to wait more than a year to perhaps hope to see the color of his 32,000 euros – equivalent to more than $48,000 Canadian – which he had deposited in the hands of his friend and real estate agent. Soufyène Mazouz last February, as a deposit for the purchase of a new house in Val d’Oise, he lamented to the French media.

However, the latter would have fled with the money, leaving the two parents and their five children without housing, since they had already signed the sale of their own house believing that they were in line to move into the other home.

“We still live with my parents,” lamented the father, according to the French media.

Realizing that they had fallen into the heart of a fraud, the family took legal action, before realizing that they were far from being the only one to have suffered heavy financial losses after crossing paths with the agent, according to “France Live”.

In fact, no less than 36 victims would have been added to a collective, claiming a total of 700,000 euros – more than $1,050,000 – through civil legal action.

Except that last October, the judge would have postponed the procedures to December 2024, to the great dismay of the plaintiffs who, for many, would have lost all their savings, reported “La Gazette Val d’Oise” on November 10.

In the meantime, the father of the family is working hard, “furious days, from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.”, to try to renovate an old house in Val d’Oise by himself, in order to be able to leave his parents’ house, according to “France Live”.
