Rap superstar Drake had an expensive night after investing big money on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington at UFC 272.
The 35-year-old Canadian bet $275,000 that Masvidal would beat Covington. Although the odds he got for the bet are unclear, most underdog bets would have seen Drake win just over $700,000.
Unfortunately for the legendary rapper, that wasn’t the case. Masvidal fell short in Covington by unanimous decision as his former sparring partner just fought him to exhaustion.
Masvidal was disappointed with how the scrap turned out. Covington took a comprehensive 49-46, 50-44, 50-45 victory and his tactics worked perfectly.
“I struggled like shit,” Masvidal, 37, said at a post-fight press conference. “That first takedown that I gave up, he took my back, he got me up pretty good.
“I felt like on the feet I had definitely done more damage. I didn’t jump after I dropped it [in the fourth round]. I thought he was going to shoot [for a takedown], I was thinking bad shit. It was my chance right there, to sprint and maybe make it a 10-8 or 10-7 lap.
“He’s ab***h. The b***h can struggle, though.
Drake will have renewed hope when Masvidal landed a huge right hook in the fourth round that forced Covington to his knees.

Gamebred was unable to capitalize on the moment, however, largely due to his exhaustion from the fight against Covington.
It wasn’t for Drake. Still, with 170 million records sold worldwide, chances are his pockets won’t hurt too much.
