Ranking Patrick Mahomes’ 3 worst games of his career

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is, of course, one of the best players in the NFL. He won a Super Bowl, an MVP award and was named to the Pro Bowl every year he started in the league. He also has one of the best records in the league, winning 50 games in just 63 starts.
He has a resume on par with anyone and he threw for 151 touchdowns and 18,991 yards in just four years as a starter. In 2018, he won his MVP award and threw for 50 touchdowns, a feat matched only by legends Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
However, he didn’t always get what he wanted. Even though he plays well most Sundays, there were times when he had a horror show.
Here are Patrick Mahomes’ three worst games in the NFL:
#3 – against the Jacksonville Jaguars, 2018
Mahomes didn’t have his best game in his first year as a starter when the Chiefs faced the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite Kansas City’s 30-14 win, the Texas Tech product completed just 22 of 38 passes. Although he managed to pass for 313 yards, he did not pass for a touchdown, but instead threw two interceptions.
He finished the day with a passer rating of just 62.7 and was only marginally better than opposing bench quarterback that day, Blake Bortles. Mahomes will admit he was lucky the Chiefs defense was in good shape that day, with five sacks and two interceptions.
#2 – against the Denver Broncos, 2021
One of the worst games of his career came last season when the Chiefs faced division rival Denver Broncos. The Chiefs won 22-9, but their quarterback only passed for 184 yards, completing just 15 of 29 passes. His completion percentage was just 51.7%, and to top it off, he only had a career-low 57.3 passer rating, according to statmuse.com.
He scored a touchdown, but it was rare to see Mahomes finish the day without a touchdown, a feat that has only happened six times in his career so far.
#1 – against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2020
The only game that comes to mind when it comes to Patrick Mahomes worst career game is Super Bowl LV. In that game, the Chiefs were beaten 31-9 by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Mahomes was under duress throughout the game as he passed for just 270 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He was sacked three times and found Buccaneers defenders all over him every play. The Chiefs offensive line crumbled in the big game and the quarterback was running for his life.
His passer rating was just 52.3 as he completed just 26 of 49 passes as Kansas City fell to Miami.
