Van Bronckhorst has already spent three seasons at Ibrox as a player and watched Rangers come out of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday from the stands.

He will now be in a canoe as the Gers host Sparta Prague, the two teams fighting to finish second behind Lyon in Group A.

The shock of the Europa League will take place on Thursday, November 25.

It will be played in Ibrox, Glasgow with a UK kick-off time at 8pm.

The two sides are tied on four points, with Sparta ahead on both goal difference and head-to-head having won 1-0 in the second leg in September.

Rangers v Sparta Prague: team news

The home side have a number of absentees for Thursday’s game, with Filip Helander (knee) and Nnamdi Ofoborh (heart disease) both excluded.

Kemar Roofe is also uncertain after missing the 3-1 loss to Hibernian due to a blow received while on international duty.

Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala are also both on a suspension warning.

Sparta will be deprived of Lukas Julis (groin), Casper Hojer (calf), Filip Soucek (knee), Matej Polidar (muscle) and Ondrej Celustka (knee) due to injuries.

Manager Pavel Vrba will also have to do without David Moberg Karlsson and Ladislav Krejci as both are unavailable due to illness.
