Randwick tips for Saturday April 16

A crisp, soggy autumn carnival wraps up in Randwick on Saturday, we might even be advancing to a slow surface (remember that?) if the weather gods are on our side.

The All Aged Stakes is the obvious standout on a deep map with large fields and the mix of horses looking to complete campaigns with money, and horses kicking off likely bound for Brisbane.

My best is (as has been the case in Randwick’s two meetings over the last fortnight) in the last why stop a good thing I guess hopefully unlike Championship weeks we already have money in the kitty and it’s not the big sweat it’s been.

Best bet: Race 10 – 9 April Rain (3 units at $6.50)
April Rain came out strong in the lead to end the day, her second behind Quantico first last time giving her weight simply beats this crew, and her ticking try was great behind winners Heresy (the one of ours) and O’President .

She rarely starts at that kind of price and might not start again if she gets the money here.

Best value: Race 8 – 11 Nimalee (1 unit at $18)
Nimalee proved she can cross that weird Randwick surface with a G1 win over the girls last week, I think she can hit the best part of the track and chase what should be a good tempo.

Forbidden Love may have peaked, Mo’unga is a threat but could use 1600 and In The Congo is quite short.

Sydney Race Selections
Race 1: 6 Lucky Sham – 1 unit at $35
Race 2: 11 contributing factor – 1 unit at $4.80
Race 3: 10 Lukey Luke – 1 unit at $10
Race 4:5 Fireburn (no betting – it would be a big deal to win the Triple Crown!)
Race 5: 9 Ottilie (1 unit at $26)
Race 6: 3 Big Parade (2 units at $1.80)
Race 7: 7 Marroni (1 unit at $4.50)
Race 8: 11 NImalee (1 unit @ $18)
Race 9: 20 Taksu (2 units at $4.50)
Race 10:9 April Rain (3 units at $6.50)

Good luck everyone, as you can see I’ve been around a few of the shorties, while they rank well, I don’t see the value with a few failures recently after some mud busters earlier in the carnival.

Enjoy the day and the weather while it lasts!
