The agreement signed between Royal Air Maroc and El Al Israel Airlines aims to multiply the networks and services of the two companies and opens the way to additional travel possibilities between Morocco and Israel
Royal Air Maroc and El Al Israel Airlines signed a code-sharing agreement on Monday, March 14, 2022 in Tel Aviv. This Moroccan ceremony, organized on the sidelines of Royal Air Maroc’s inaugural flight between Casablanca and Tel Aviv, was performed by Hamid Addou, CEO of the Company and Avigal Soreq, CEO of the Israeli company.
The code-sharing, effective today, will include, in a first phase, direct flights between Morocco and Israel carried out by the two companies. Indeed, EL AL schedules regular flights depending on Tel Aviv and Marrakech at the rate of three rotations per week. As for Royal Air Maroc, it has just inaugurated its new direct air route from Casablanca to Tel Aviv with four frequencies initially, to quickly increase to five flights per week.
This agreement will make it possible to offer customers of the two companies more options in terms of timetables and combinability between Marrakech, Casablanca and Tel-Aviv and will link the networks of the two companies with more fluid connections thanks to the possibility of end-to-end passenger and baggage check-in. Customers will also have access to a wider choice of destinations, more convenient connections beyond the hubs of both companies and an optimized customer experience. Speaking following this signature, Mr. Addou noted that “this agreement will contribute to the strengthening of the company’s traffic and will make it possible to offer passengers a connection to additional destinations as well as a better customer experience thanks to optimized connections and end-to-end check-in operations, with international assistance at the network airports operated by both airlines”.
For his part, Mr. Soreq declared, “we are delighted with this partnership concluded between the two official flag carriers of the two countries in the field of air transport”. This collaboration, he continues, “is a great achievement achieved in a relatively short time since the conclusion of the Abraham Accords which made it possible to establish official relations. For Israelis, this partnership will provide them with an additional and diversified travel offer to destinations in Morocco and Africa. Israelis appreciate the tourist destination of Morocco and we are confident that Moroccans will also be attracted to Israel as an attractive tourist destination.”
