Rajinikanth says Jailer was ‘an above average film’ before Anirudh’s music transformed it ‘like a bride-to-be after makeup’

Rajinikanth said Anirudh Ravichander’s music elevated Jailer and made it a blockbuster.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which released in theaters on August 10, broke many box office records and is now one of the highest-grossing Tamil films. At a recent event, the actor revealed that the film was “above average” before Anirudh Ravichander’s music.

Rajinikanth said that Anirudh Ravichander’s music elevated the film and made it a blockbuster. He said, “To be frank with you, the film before RR (electronic recording) was above average ah dha irundhuchu, Ani (Anirudh) took it to the next level.” He said: “I watched the film first without re-recording it. I then asked Mr. Sembian and Mr. Kannan for their opinions on the film. Kannan was all praise. I told him, ‘Nelson is your friend and you’ll obviously like him.’ I then asked Sembian and he told me that the film was above average. But the film before the re-recording was also above average for me. However, the way Anirudh presented the film was ‘My God’. It transformed Jailer almost like a bride-to-be after makeup. Stunning.”

Earlier, celebrating the success of the film, the film’s producer Kalanithi Maran had gifted a BMW X7 to Rajinikanth and a Porsche to director Nelson on September 1 last week. On September 4, music director Anirudh Ravichander was also gifted a brand new Porsche car worth Rs 1.5 crore by Maran.

The video of the same was shared on social media and YouTube channel of production banner Sun Pictures with the caption: “To celebrate the huge blockbuster #Jailer, Mr. Kalanithi Maran presented the key to a brand new Porsche car at @anirudhofficial.”.

In the clip, it is seen that Anirudh was given the opportunity to choose one of the three luxury cars and he added the all-new Porsche to his collection of posh cars. Anirudh, who is Rajinikanth’s nephew, gave hit songs like Kaavaalaa, Hukum and Rathamaarey for Jailer.
