Raiders look to reassess performance after lackluster showing against Panthers

The Raiders failed to get things going in any phase of the game, losing the turnover battle and being outgained by over 100 yards of total offense.

The highlight of the game was sophomore receiver Tre Tucker, who had a career-high seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. He also had the most explosive play of the day for the Raiders’ offense with a 54-yard reception in the first quarter.

Still, his emotions after the best statistical day of his young career were frank: “It sucks.”

“We didn’t win, so in my mind, it doesn’t matter what individual stats you got at the end of the day if you didn’t win,” Tucker said. “Last week, I don’t know how many yards I rushed for, I know it wasn’t a lot, but we won and I enjoyed it. I appreciate the win a lot more than the individual stats.”

Maxx Crosby, who finished the day with three tackles and a pass deflection, echoed Pierce and Tucker’s sentiments. The veteran edge rusher kept things simple with his take on how the game unfolded.

“It’s the NFL. If you’re not playing at your best, you’re not ready to play,” Crosby said. “I don’t know what to attribute it to, but we have a full roster. So a lot of us have to look in the mirror. Everybody has to continue to get better.”

“It’s not the end of the world, but it’s a wake-up call. We have to do better, period. It’s as simple as that.”
