Russian president noted ‘positive dynamics’ in Moscow’s military operation in neighboring country
Russian President Vladimir Putin provided a positive assessment of the evolution of the battlefield of the military operation in Ukraine. His comment came days after Russian forces seized the strategic town of Soledar in Donbass.
In an interview with the Rossiya 1 news channel broadcast on Sunday, Putin said: “The dynamic is positive. Everything is developing within the framework of the plan of the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
He also expressed the hope that “Our fighters will please us more with their results.”
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the capture of the strategic city of Soledar in Donbass, which had been the scene of heavy fighting, underlining the importance of the city. “for the continuation of successful offensive actions.”
Officials said the seizure of Soledar could pave the way for the severing of supply lines for Ukrainian forces in the nearby town of Artyomovsk, which Kyiv has renamed Bakhmut.

Both sides have reported heavy fighting near Artyomovsk in recent months. The city is a key logistical hub for Ukrainian troops in the Donbass, while for Russia its capture would pave the way for other important cities under Ukrainian control.
