Putin holds meeting with top generals — RT Russia and former Soviet Union

The Russian president heard reports from military leaders at a command post in Rostov-on-Don
President Vladimir Putin paid an announced visit to a command and control center in southern Russia responsible for military operations in Ukraine, the Kremlin press service said on Sunday, quoted by the media.
During his trip to the Rostov-on-Don command post, Putin “heard reports from Russian Chief of Staff (Valery) Gerasimov and a number of military leaders”, says the Kremlin.
In a video of the visit shared by local media, the Russian president told Gerasimov as he entered the PC that he had “as much time as necessary” to hear military reports.
The high-level meeting follows Putin’s surprise visits to Crimea and the town of Mariupol in the Donetsk People’s Republic, which was liberated by Russian forces last spring after weeks of heavy fighting.
During the trip to Crimea on Saturday, the day of the ninth anniversary of the reunification of the peninsula with Russia, Putin probed the construction of an important historical-archaeological park.
In Mariupol, the president visited several districts to inspect the progress of restoration efforts, including the construction of residential and public infrastructure, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
Last fall, the Donetsk People’s Republic, along with three other former Ukrainian regions, voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining Russia in public referendums, like Crimea, which voted in favor of joining Russia in 2014 after the Western-backed coup in Kyiv.
