Pupils and staff return to class at Hamden High School after threat investigation

HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) – Hamden High School was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a bomb threat.

Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler confirmed the evacuation and threat to Channel 3.

Goeler said he emailed parents earlier in the morning to update them on the situation.

Police reported later that morning that they were made aware of the threat around 7.45am.

Officers, along with school board staff, said they have a plan in place for the evacuation of the school. Hamden K9 units, with assistance from the Yale University Police Department, searched the school and surrounding area.

The entrances were blocked by the police. Firefighters were also on the scene.

A Channel 3 crew at the scene saw students and staff sitting outside on bleachers.

However, police said nothing was found.

Students and staff have since returned to the building.

Detectives from the Hamden Police Major Crimes Unit, along with federal authorities, said they were continuing to investigate to determine who was responsible.
