PS5 will end Twitter support

Sony has announced that support for Twitter – or X, if you want to call it that – on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) is officially ending.

The announcement was made via notifications sent to consoles.

The end of support means that players will no longer be able to view content published on the platform or even publish it to the platform in the future. The company joins Microsoft by ending console integration since Elon Musk took over.

“As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly Twitter) will no longer work on Station 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles.” Sony says. “This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to publish and view content, trophies and other game-related activity on account X to do it).”

At the time of publication, Sony has yet to make an official announcement on the decision outside of the push notification.
