Hundreds gathered for a third night of protests to express their anger over police murder of a black man in a suburb of Minneapolis, with prosecutors on Wednesday to decide whether to charge authorities according to authorities who shot him down.
The Washington County District Attorney is assessing the charges against former Brooklyn Center cop Kim Potter in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, he told CNN.
“I hope to have an impeachment decision by tomorrow,” Prosecutor Pete Orput said in an email Tuesday afternoon. “I just got some big documents, and with enough coffee, I’ll have something tomorrow.”
Wright’s death on Sunday during a traffic stop, which Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon said appeared to be the result of Potter’s mistake on his gun. for his Taser, sparked widespread anger.
