Promoter Eddie Hearn reveals three names Canelo Alvarez could fight in December in London

John Ryder or Joshua Buatsi’s winner against Craig Richards could be the biggest payday of their careers as they could get the opportunity to fight pound-for-pound boxing king Canelo Alvarez.
Canelo promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that if the Mexican was to fight in London this year it would be on December 17 and Ryder or Buatsi’s winner against Richards would likely be in the opposite corner.

On Saturday night, Canelo will face WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It will be a tough test for the Mexican but as always due to Canelo’s quality and dominance in recent years, he is expecting victory and the fans and pundits have already been watching his next opponents.
Canelo signed a three-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing and DAZN worth $160 million.
The first fight is this weekend’s clash with Bivol, followed by a long-awaited trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin, and then the third fight of the deal had not been revealed until now.
“Canelo wants to fight in London in December,” Hearn told talkSPORT.com’s Alex McCarthy.
“We have the mandatory for his super middleweight championship and the mandatory for his light heavyweight championship.

“So, John Ryder or [the winner of] Joshua Buatsi versus Craig Richards. We are well placed to supply him for one of those fights in London.
“Buatsi vs Richards is a fight where the winner can claim to be in these kinds of fights with Canelo.
“At the moment, they are two world-class national hopefuls.
“You have to go out there and be involved in a big fight like this at the O2 to start calling a legend like Canelo Alvarez.
“He’s going to want a dance partner in the UK.”

Before all that, however, Canelo will have to overtake Russian Bivol, who is undefeated in his 19 professional outings so far, with 11 knockouts.
Bivol has a height and reach advantage over Canelo, he also has a great jab and tremendous footwork and won’t be an easy night job for the Mexican.
That being said, this won’t be the first intimidating Russian Canelo faces at 175 pounds, having faced Sergey Kovalev in 2019.
On this occasion, it was a very close fight, but in the 11th round, Canelo stepped on the gas and knocked out Kovalev in stunning fashion to become the WBO light heavyweight champion.
