Progressive Response to Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address

Freshman Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) is about to speak on behalf of the Working Families Party on Tuesday night, shortly after the end of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.

Ramirez’s response is expected to begin around 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, shortly after Biden concludes his State of the Union address.

First-term Illinois lawmaker set to respond to Biden speechscheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and use it to rebut the Republican response from Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) and Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), which is also expected to begin shortly after Biden’s conclusion.

Ramirez is expected to talk about Social Security, Medicare, abortion rights and immigration.

“Social Security, Medicare, abortion rights and comprehensive immigration reform are not political topics for discussion. They are essential to the well-being of our nation,” Ramirez said in a statement. “We also need to show workers how the Democrats will benefit them if they put us back in the majority. This is our path to a majority of working families in Congress.

Last year, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) made headlines when she responded to Biden’s State of the Union address for the left. In her unusual rebuttal, she ultimately berated the president for failing to enact Green New Deal-like policies into law.
