Almost a week after a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they were involved in a two-hour car chase with paparazzi, their spokesperson is responding to claims the incident was for advertising purposes.
“Respectfully, given the history of the Duke’s family, one would have to think nothing of the couple or anyone associated with them to believe this was some sort of publicity stunt,” said their representative at New York Timesreferring to the death of Harry’s mother princess dianawho was killed in a car accident in 1997. “Quite frankly, I think it’s abhorrent.”
On May 16, Harry, Meghan and her mother Doria Ragland were in New York to attend the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards, where the Duchess was honored.
According to the couple’s rep, after leaving the event, the trio were involved in an “almost catastrophic car chase” with “very aggressive paparazzi”.
