Prince Andrew stripped of military and royal titles in sexual assault case

Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and royal sponsorships are returned to Queen Elizabeth II at her request following her ongoing legal battle with Jeffrey Epstein’s accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace confirmed in A declaration on Twitter that the Queen has agreed to accept the honors returned.

“The Duke of York will continue to hold no public office and defend this case as a private citizen,” the statement said.

On Wednesday, a judge refused to revoke a lawsuit against the British prince by the American woman who said he sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan rejected an argument by Andrew’s lawyers that Giuffre’s trial should be dismissed at an early stage due to an old legal deal she had with Epstein, the deceased American financier, according to her, arranged for sex with the royal. Kaplan said the $ 500,000 settlement between Epstein and Giuffre does not involve the prince and does not preclude a lawsuit against him now.
