Jonny Clayton landed a perfect nine-dart finish in the victory over Jose De Sousa as the debutants continued to set the pace in the Premier League alongside Michael van Gerwen – but both men followed leader Dimitri Van den Bergh.

Le Ferret were the last man to reserve his spot on the pitch when he won the Masters in February, and his electric run shows no signs of slowing down as he challenged Jose De Sousa’s 108 average to win 7-3.

But he applied the perfect finish to his astonishing run of form when he won the 11th finish in nine darts of the Premier League era, reaching perfection in the eighth leg of his victory with two 180s max and a spectacular one. check-out from 141.

Clayton had a brilliant victory, joining Van Gerwen and Van den Bergh with five of six possible points in the first three nights – but it’s the ferret’s nine darts that steal the headlines.

The first five legs were sawn off between the two men with a host of big scores and quick-firing legs, but Clayton took control to lead 4-2 amid a barrage of 19 triples from De Sousa, who shot in an 11 dart leg. to enter one of the Welsh.

Wade teamed up with Anderson to open the competition less than 12 hours after being called up to replace Gerwyn Price, but has yet to reach the level that saw him win the UK Open a few months ago.

He only managed three more innings, the third of which came via a 101 finish after Aspinall missed his first dart for the game, but Asp was not denied as he earned a deserved victory.
