Friday November 17a pregnant woman and her child died after complications during a home birth, in Le Loroux, near Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine). The mother was the victim of severe heart disease.
Double autopsy
On the evening of Saturday November 18, Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennesannounced that a double autopsy, of mother and childhad been ordered.
The mother’s autopsy was made yesterday, Monday November 20. She “has not at this stage made it possible to determine the cause of his death”, explains Philippe Astruc. He adds that “forensic analyzes (which will take Several weeks) were ordered in order to achieve this.
About the infantthe magistrate specifies that it is deceased in utero. His autopsy was carried out today, Tuesday November 21, but the prosecutor “does not wish to communicate the result at this stage”.
Psychological support in hospital
On the side of Fougères hospitalits director, David Chambon, announced yesterday that he was setting up psychological support for healthcare workers, “deeply touched” by this tragedy.
