Power outage leaves group stranded in elevator near top of Reunion Tower

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) A group of people found themselves stranded a few floors from the top of the Reunion Tower after a power cut in the elevator.

It happened just before 5:30 p.m. this afternoon at the iconic tower on the west end of downtown Dallas.

The glass elevator offers a spectacular view of the city.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the scene and also called in their specialist urban search and rescue team if needed.

After about an hour, firefighters were able to open the doors and move those inside up an internal staircase.

No one was hurt.

Storms in North Texas knocked out power to at least 14,000 customers at the height of the storm.
