Port Costa fire: ‘All clear’ given after fast-moving scenic fire burned dangerously near homes, forcing evacuations

PORT COSTA, Calif. (KGO) — Authorities in East Bay have given Port Costa a “clear all” after a fast-moving wildfire burned dangerously near homes on Thursday afternoon.

The Scenic Fire broke out near Carquinez Scenic Drive and Canyon Lake Drive, east of Crockett.

At the height of the fire, authorities had issued an evacuation order and road closures for this area.

SKY7 was overhead as crews worked to contain the flames, coating homes in red retardant and making several drops of water.

According to CAL FIRE, planes at the scene reported seeing “erratic fire behavior” as the fire burned at least 50 acres.

While the town of Crockett was under a mandatory evacuation, this order was downgraded to pending evacuation.
