A knife-wielding man was shot dead by officers at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on Wednesday, local law enforcement said.
Police tweeted that officers had “shown composure” in neutralizing the threatening individual.
According to local media, the attacker was homeless. He arrived at airport terminal 2F with a knife and began to act aggressively.
The police reportedly asked him to drop his gun several times, but he refused to do so.
Shots were reportedly fired when the man charged the officers. He was injured in the abdomen and quickly received medical attention, but later succumbed to his injuries.
An AFP photographer, who witnessed the scene, recounts “a tall person of color brandished something that looked like a knife at the police.”
A licensed officer “one shot” to the man as he continued to advance towards the officers, he recalled.
