Police find unidentified man dead, partially burned in Gary

GARY, Ind. (SCS) – An investigation is ongoing after a man was found dead and partially burned in Gary on Wednesday morning.

Gary Police said at approximately 8:27 a.m., officers responded to a call from a deceased person in the 4800 block of West 21st Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with two people who saw what was believed to be a lifeless man in a grassy area.

Doctors later confirmed that a man was found in the area with no signs of life – face down and partially burned. Lake County Coroner’s officers pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The victim is listed as John Doe because no identification was found.
