Polestar fires shots at Tesla and Volkswagen, promises ‘no compromise’ in Super Bowl ad

Polestar made its Super Bowl debut with a Polestar 2 ad that aimed to differentiate the electric car newcomer from traditional automakers by tackling the whole concept of flashy car ads — and Tesla and Volkswagen, specifically.
The 30-second ad, titled ‘No Compromises’ makes a litany of claims for Polestar, promising ‘No epic voiceovers’, ‘No empty promises’ and ‘No hidden agendas’. Sharper claims saw Polestar take a swipe at Tesla CEO Elon Musk (“No conquering Mars”) and Volkswagen (“No dieselgate”) over booming photos of the Polestar 2 electric sedan of the company.
Polestar is a relatively new player in electric cars, with close ties to Volvo and (notably) offering the first car powered entirely by Google’s Android Automotive operating system. But even with Volvo’s backing, Polestar is still relatively small compared to the companies it shoots in its Super Bowl ad – though it presumably hopes the ad’s publicity will help change that in the future.
Correction: The Polestar 2 is a sedan, not an SUV. We regret the error.
