Plymouth 2 – 0 Wimbledon

Play-off hopefuls Plymouth secured back-to-back victories at home in League One with victory over AFC Wimbledon at Home Park.

Argyle took the lead in the 29th minute thanks to the combination of in-form playmaker Danny Mayor and leading scorer Ryan Hardie.

Midfielder Mayor’s trick ball found striker Hardie in the space in front of goal and he took a throw-in before firing home his 17th of the season.

Argyle started the second half as they finished the first with skipper Joe Edwards having two successive blocked shots and a rush on goal, started by Hardie, cleared by the Dons defence.

That pressure soon showed when Niall Ennis broke the left and powered the ball through the penalty area to the far post where Ryan Broom assuredly headed home after 61 minutes.

A minute earlier, home goalkeeper Michael Cooper made a superb diving save to convert striker Sam Cosgrove’s close-range angled shot from the right around his post.
