Pleasant holiday Sunday in store for Chicago area, but another heat wave is coming – NBC Chicago

The Chicago area has enjoyed a few glorious days recently, but temperatures are set to rise significantly when the new work week begins.

Luckily for residents, those planning to celebrate June 19 and Father’s Day on Sunday will have the opportunity to do so under sunny skies and seasonally mild conditions.

Highs on Sunday are expected to reach 80 degrees across most of the region, with partly to mostly sunny conditions expected throughout the day.

These conditions won’t last forever, and another heat wave is expected to grip the city starting Monday, with highs reaching the 90s.

Things will be even hotter on Tuesday as forecast models indicate high temperatures could potentially reach the upper 90s, threatening 100 degrees in some places.

While the rest of the work week doesn’t appear to see near triple-digit temperatures, it will still be quite warm in most places, with highs expected to hit the 90s for most of the week ahead.
