rsenal boss Jonas Eidevall says playing more matches at the Emirates Stadium is the “right way forward” for the club’s women’s team as they prepare for two showpiece matches on the pitch.
The Gunners face Wolfsburg in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates on Wednesday night, ahead of visiting Tottenham for Saturday’s North London derby in the WSL.
Eidevall’s side played their opening game of the campaign against WSL title rivals Chelsea at the Emirates in September last year, as well as their meeting with European champions Barcelona in the second round. Champions League groups.
“I like playing at the Emirates, I think that’s the right way for us to go, I think that’s the way we can develop the game,” Eidevall said.
“I think with this winter it has helped our game to play on better grass pitches, Borehamwood has been a bit barren.
“I think it will be a great opportunity, first playing here at the Emirates and then going to Wolfsburg and playing at their big stadium.”
