Pittsburgh shooting: 2 miners killed and at least 9 others shot in East Allegheny, officials say

Two youths were fatally shot and at least nine others were shot and injured overnight in the East Allegheny neighborhood of Pittsburgh, officials said early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. and stemmed from a large party at a short-term rental property where up to 200 people had gathered, the city of Pittsburgh said in a news release. Many of those present at the party were underage, the statement said.

As officers responded to the scene on Suismon Street at Madison Avenue, they saw several youths fleeing the area, officials said.

“As many as 50 bullets were fired inside, prompting some revelers to jump out of windows, sustaining injuries such as broken bones and lacerations. Several more shots were fired outside the house,” the press release read.

The two deceased victims were male miners, city officials said.

Investigators are collecting evidence at no less than eight separate crime scenes, officials said.
