Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria could make their Chelsea debuts against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, reveals Thomas Tuchel

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria could both bow out to Chelsea on Tuesday night, having traveled with the team for their Champions League clash.

The Blues secured the services of Aubameyang for £10m from Barcelona in the summer, in a deal that saw Marcos Alonso head the other way.

Swiss international midfielder Zakaria also followed suit by joining on transfer deadline day, swapping Juventus’ Allianz Stadium for Stamford Bridge.

Both could make their Champions League debut on Tuesday night when Chelsea take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian capital, Tuchel has confirmed.

Aubameyang, has had a bespoke face mask fitted to protect a broken jaw suffered during a home break at Barcelona.

“If there is a problem today, we will not put it [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] in, but there was no problem for him yesterday. Is it ready to start? I think he can’t play 90 minutes so we have to deal with the decision,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference on Monday.

“He needs minutes for his pace.”

On the mask and if he can be the superhero tomorrow: “Don’t put any more ideas in Auba’s head, please! When he scores, he can celebrate.

“He is hungry to play for us, that’s what we felt from the first moment and he is invited to prove a point.”

Tuchel also confirmed experienced defender Thiago Silva missed the trip, with the club taking care of his well-being.

“We decided with Thiago that he would take a break after playing every minute so far. It was time to give him a break rather than benching him and having movement problems,” added Tuchel.

“We could take everyone to Zagreb to train with everyone. including Dennis [Zakaria] and Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang]if it goes well they will be available.
