Piedmont and Envoy Air increase pilot pay as travel demand increases

The pilots of two regional airlines owned by American Airlines Group are getting a massive pay raise for at least the next two years as carriers struggle to retain pilots amid an industry-wide hiring spree.

Piedmont Airlines and Envoy Air will increase pilot pay by another 50% until the end of August 2024, in addition to longer-term pay increases, as the airlines try to rebuild their ranks after encouraging thousands of pilots to retire at the height of the Covid -19 pandemic. In total, newly hired co-pilots will start earning $90 per hour through summer 2024. Newly hired captains will start at approximately $146 per hour at both carriers during this time, or more depending on the experience.
