Philly Theater Week takes the stage

PHILADELPHIA CREAM — Philly Theater Week returned to stages across the city in late March.
It’s an 11-day celebration of all things theater, with dozens of performances scheduled around our viewing area from over 40 theater companies.
Jenna Kuerzi is one of those actors and writers taking part in the celebration.
She is an actress, writer, producer and candle maker. His solo piece, Johnny Depp! (A Retrospective on Late Capitalism) can be seen at Fergie’s Pub for a run of nine shows from March 30 during the festivities.
“I see in the audience a community willing to take risks and see new things. Not just go to the same theater they’ve always gone to,” she explains. “I’ve seen people walk into Fergie’s or any theater with a show saying I know there’s a play here, I just don’t know what it’s about, but I’m ready to see something weird. And I think it’s really beautiful to create a play in Philadelphia.”
She says great things can happen when you step out of your comfort zone.
Two things she was afraid of were being alone on stage and the improvisation of the audience. And by performing her play, she conquered these fears and these loves each time she goes on stage.
