Phillies’ Ranger Suárez and Braves’ Spencer Strider expected for Game 4


Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson announced that left-hander Ranger Suárez will start Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.

Right-hander Spencer Strider will get the nod for Atlanta at Citizens Bank Park, the Braves announced Wednesday.

Philadelphia is one game away from qualifying for the NL Championship Series for the first second year in a row. Suárez and Strider faced off in the first game, with the Phillies winning 1-0. Suárez allowed just one hit and one walk in 3.2 innings of shutout baseball. Strider went seven solid innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) and five hits to take the loss.

Strider pitched Game 3 of the 2022 NLDS in Philadelphia, going 2.1 innings, allowing three hits and five runs. He faced only 12 batters before being removed from the game during a 9-1 Braves loss.
