Philadelphia shooting: 3 dead, 11 injured after mass shooting involving multiple shooters

PHILADELPHIA — A deluge of bullets from multiple shooters left three dead and nearly a dozen others injured on South Street, a popular restaurant and arts district, in Philadelphia.

It all happened shortly before midnight Saturday when police on patrol heard numerous gunshots coming from the 200 block of South Street.

Those officers saw several active shooters firing into the crowd, Inspector DF Pace said at a news conference early Sunday morning.

One of these officers shot one of the shooters. It is not known if this suspect was hit, Pace said.

However, this suspect dropped his weapon and fled.

At least two firearms were recovered from the scene, and Pace said one had an extended magazine.

“Numerous” casings were found along blocks 200 and 300.

A total of 14 people were hit by gunfire. Among these victims, three people died and 11 others were injured.

Among the victims killed are two men and a woman. All three suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Their names have not been disclosed.

“You can imagine there were hundreds of people taking advantage of South Street, as they do every weekend, when this shooting broke out,” Pace said.

No arrests were made.

Pace said at least one of the shooters fled south on American Street.

Police are looking for surveillance videos to help them identify the shooters.
