Philadelphia Eagles’ O line No. 1 in PFF standings entering 2022

The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line was clearly one of the strengths of the 2021 team and they’re essentially sending the entire starting squad and a few key replacements back into 2022 as well.

Pro Football Focus rated the O line as the best in football heading into the 2022 season, according to PFF’s Michael Renner they are in the category of minor or no weaknesses.

There may not be a single below-average starter along the Eagles offensive line. Pair that with arguably the best tackling duo in the NFL, and there’s no debating which team offensive line belongs to No. 1 heading into 2022. Jordan’s incredible development Mailata at left tackle cannot be underestimated. After not playing for a while in his first two NFL seasons, Mailata went from starting at left tackle in 2020 to the third-highest-ranked player at the position in the NFL last season.

The website points out that the Eagles’ tackle combination is perhaps the best in football, thanks in part to the development of Jordan Mailata.

Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce are the unit’s two veterans, and the left side of the line is entering its second season with Mailata and Landon Dickerson playing side-by-side.

The only place up for grabs appears to be the right guard spot, with Isaac Seumalo and Jack Driscoll likely to fight for the starting spot, replacing Brandon Brooks, who retired after missing all of last season due to ‘a wound.

There’s a lot of talent behind the starting unit, with former first-round pick Andre Dillard, Sua Opeta, Jack Anderson, veteran La’Raven Clark, right guard battle loser and rookie pick second-rounder Cam Jurgens showing plenty of depth.

The Eagles are one of four NFL teams that PFF has ranked first in tanking with Cleveland, Detroit and Tampa Bay the others.

In the NFC East, Dallas was in Tier 2, “upper tier,” ranking No. 6 overall, Washington was No. 15 overall in Tier 3, with “top-end potential,” and the Giants were ranked No. 18 overall. 4, category “at least one good tackle”.
