Outraged Chelsea fans demanded that Anthony Taylor never referee any of their games again after their turbulent draw against Tottenham.
The fiery clash at Stamford Bridge ended 2-2 as Spurs caught the Blues twice, their equalizer coming in the dying seconds of stoppage time.
The end of the match saw coaches Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte go head-to-head, having engaged in a spat on the touchline after Spurs’ opening goal.
Tuchel appears to have weathered the clashes with his counterpart as he later opened up on the ‘very, very poor’ officiating by referee Taylor and his assistants after the game,
Tuchel believes both Spurs goals should not have stood, arguing that Richarlison, who was in an offside position, was in the line of the ball when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg shot past Edouard Mendy.
The German also slammed the officials for not giving Kai Havertz a free kick as he was firmly tackled by Rodrigo Bentancur ahead of Hojbjerg’s goal.
And the second equaliser, which was scored by Harry Kane, came after Cristian Romero went unpunished despite VAR watching an incident which showed him pulling the hair of Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, while saying a free-kick shortly before the corner which leads to Spurs’ second goal should not have been awarded.
Chelsea fans will share Tuchel’s view that decisive drastic action is needed.
