Pep Guardiola makes Ted Lasso appearance as ex-footballers Jay Bothroyd and George Elokobi as Man City stars

Pep Guardiola made a hilarious appearance in the latest episode of the hit series Ted Lasso.

The Manchester City boss has stuck to his real-life role on the show, with a duo of former Premier League stars spotted as two of his players.

The main character Lasso, played by American actor Jason Sudeikis, is the head coach of fictional Premier League club AFC Richmond.

During the last episode, his team made the trip to the Etihad stadium to face City.

After the game, the managers met on the touchline and exchanged words, with Guardiola congratulating his counterpart saying: ‘Good game’.

“Thank you coach, I appreciate it,” Lasso replied. “Hey, gotta be honest with you, you’re a tough guy to beat, man!”

Guardiola replied: “Don’t worry about who wins or loses. Just help these guys be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch. This, in the end, is the most important thing.

Lasso took the advice and before parting ways said: “I couldn’t agree more, Coach.”

Before kick-off, an eagle-eyed fan on Twitter also noticed ex-Premier League stars Jay Bothroyd and George Elokobi entering the pitch.

Bothroyd made 62 appearances in the top flight across spells at Coventry, Blackburn, Charlton and QPR, with Elokobi making 59 times for Wolves.

However, they were both representing City this time around, former real-life stars turning the crossover into fiction.

The Apple TV show, now in its third season, has been a huge hit among football fans since its launch in 2020.

One episode in particular was a source of controversy though, with Chelsea fans left unimpressed after a banner dedicated to the late Ray Wilkins was changed.

Guardiola recently guided City to a third consecutive Premier League title and can now add acting to his impressive CV.
