David McCormick, who served as CEO of Bridgewater Associates from 2020 to 2022, has taken conservative positions in the U.S. Senate race from Pennsylvania, but conservatives have raised concerns about his corporate record due to his company’s advocacy on transgender issues – from covering transgender surgery for employees to welcoming a transgender activist and promoting an employee who identifies as transgender.
“The far left is attacking American history, culture and values,” McCormick’s website states. The candidate promises that he “will oppose the revival that is taking over our schools, big business and the media, and that he will fight so that every child can also live the American dream”.
McCormick campaign spokeswoman Jess Szymanski outlined the candidate’s position on transgender issues in comments to Fox News Digital.

“Dave is not supporting federal taxpayer dollars for transgender surgeries,” Szymanski told Fox News Digital.
Asked about McCormick’s stance on transgender identity and medical interventions for minors, the spokesperson sought to pit McCormick against Dr. Mehmet Oz, who gave transgender activists and a transgender surgeon a platform in his broadcast before entering the Pennsylvania Senate race in 2022.
“No, as a Conservative Dave thinks it is deeply disturbing for Liberals like Mehmet Oz to encourage children as young as 8 who may be vulnerable and lack the maturity to understand to undergo transgender surgery and taking hormones to block puberty,” Szymanski said. (The Dr. Oz campaign criticized Oz’s record in previous comments to Fox News Digital, but it did not explain its position on medical interventions for children with gender dysphoria.)
When Fox News Digital asked if McCormick supports male-to-female transgender people competing in sports, Szymanski emphatically replied, “No.”

Still, McCormick’s stance against transgender activism and his promise to oppose “revival” seem to clash with his record as CEO of Bridgewater. During her tenure, Bridgewater offered employees “fully paid coverage for gender transitions” as part of an initiative to support “underrepresented groups.”
The company promoted Glennda Tostone, a “uber queer“LGBT activist, to speak about gender identity, arguing that gender is on a spectrum and that gender identification is not ‘fixed over a person’s lifetime’.
In June 2021, Bridgewater invited senior software engineer Lucas Morales, who identified as “queer”, to speak about gender identity as part of the company’s “BPROUD” affinity group which ” connects and enables LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to be authentic and inclusive.” leaders.”
McCormick also signed an amicus brief arguing for the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2013, two years before the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) legalizing same-sex marriage.
Asked about the candidate’s company track record, Szymanski suggested that McCormick’s experience as CEO inspired him to fight “revivalism.”
MAJOR COMPANIES HAD EXPOSED “WOKE” TRAININGS IN 2021
“Dave has seen with his own eyes how the awakening and undoing of culture in our schools, the military and the corporate world is turning our country into a country we don’t recognize,” she said. . “He is running for the United States Senate to push back this awakening and restore the American dream he was blessed with.” She did not say whether McCormick personally opposed “revival” at his company or held it back in any way.
Szymanski then pivoted to target Dr. Oz again.
“Dr. Oz has championed gender reassignment surgeries for children as young as eight years old,” she said. “He should respond if he thinks this practice is safe and in the best interests of vulnerable children who may not yet have the maturity to understand.”
McCormick, a West Point grad who served for five years and was deployed to Iraq, is currently leading the U.S. Senate Republican primary in Pennsylvania, just ahead of Dr. Oz. He served as Under Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush.
Conservative advocates have raised concerns about McCormick’s record.
“As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words,” Michael Geer, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, told Fox News Digital. “A look at the company’s record led by PA US Senate hopeful David McCormick appears to show an aggressive embrace of the woke agenda, including the promotion of transgender ideology and initiatives” DEI “anti-equality.”

“McCormick also personally advocated for the Supreme Court of the United States to strike down our duly enacted marriage laws in the State of Pennsylvania by filing a friend brief in the Obergefell case,” Geer added. Parents in Pennsylvania are wondering how this leadership squares with McCormick’s campaign ads pledging to fight ‘revival’. The words and the record don’t seem to line up.”
“Given that, worried Pennsylvania will want to know what he plans to do on these key issues if elected,” he concluded.
“Woke corporate America has at this point largely embraced transgender, so it’s sadly no surprise that Bridgewater has been no exception,” Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, told Fox News Digital. . “However, Republican voters expect their leaders to categorically reject this dangerous ideology.”

“We are encouraged that David McCormick has stated his opposition to biological men participating in women’s sports and allowing minors to undergo gender reassignment,” Schilling added. “These issues are among the top priorities of pro-family voters, and we commend McCormick for taking a clear stance on them.”
“To alleviate any lingering potential concerns, we also encourage him to sign our Big Family Pledge and assure families that he will be a trusted ally to them in Washington,” Schilling concluded.
