Pence touted a variety of accomplishments in their administration, from conservative judicial appointments and the Operation Warp Speed vaccination program, to foreign policy achievements like the Abraham Accords.
“These are four years of consequences, four years of results and four years of promises made and promises kept,” he said.
Pence called serving alongside Trump “the greatest honor of my life.” He made a fleeting reference to the events of January 6, calling them “a tragedy on our nation’s Capitol”, but did not address the violence that occurred.
During his speech, which coincided with President Joe Biden’s 100th day in office, Pence called Biden’s program “a skyrocketing spending explosion” and decried Democrats for what he saw as the launch of ‘a war against “traditional American values”. He said Republicans had the winning agenda, focusing on key issues such as national defense, a secure border and conservative judges.
Pence did not say if he would run for president in 2024, but the location of the night’s event was remarkable. South Carolina is hosting the first presidential primary in the South, and a victory in that state reignited Biden’s campaign to become the Democratic nominee last year.

Last month, a poll of Republican voters found DeSantis and Pence tied for the 2024 GOP nomination should Trump decide to step down.
This month, publisher Simon & Schuster announced a two-pound deal with Pence – a common tactic for those preparing for a presidential race. The first book, an autobiography devoted to the former vice president’s faith and public service, is expected to arrive in 2023.
