Pence is the latest to face intense scrutiny after the discovery of classified documents in his Indiana home

Laura Barron-Lopez:

The former vice president’s attorney said they believe the documents were — quote — “inadvertently boxed up” and transported to Pence, his home at the end of the Trump administration, to his unknowing.

After discovering the materials, Pence and his lawyers notified the National Archives. His attorney wrote in a letter that – quote – “Vice President Pence understands the great importance of protecting sensitive and classified information and stands ready and willing to cooperate fully.”

To find out more about what this means, I am joined by Larry Pfeiffer. He is the director of the Hayden Center, an organization responsible for intelligence policy.

Larry, thank you very much for joining us.

Pence’s attorney said the search was prompted by the discovery of classified documents at President Biden’s home and office. You ran the White House Situation Room under President Obama, and you also worked in the intelligence community for some 32 years. Should all senior officials like Pence be doing research like this?
