Pedro Pascal Reveals The Hilarious Reason He Forgot He Was Cast For ‘The Last Of Us’

This story is anything but a nap.
Pedro Pascal confessed to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight ShowOn Thursday, he completely forgot he landed the lead role of Joel in HBO’s adaptation of the popular video game “The Last of Us.”
The former ‘Game of Thrones’ star told Fallon he worked in London when he was asked to video call with series showrunner Craig Mazin and video game creator Nei Druckmann, both in Los Angeles, California.
Pascal said the call went well, but he wasn’t sure if he had booked the role.
“And by then it’s really late.” I have to get up in the morning, [so] I’m taking an Ambien,” Pascal said shyly, explaining that his “adrenaline” was rising after the promising call.
“Yeah, you’re taking a sleeping pill, so you don’t have to think about anything,” Fallon said.
“Yes exactly!” Pascal said. “But I get a call, and I’m told I got the job after taking the Ambien. So I was excited, I guess, but I couldn’t remember.
Pascal said he woke up in the morning thinking he was still waiting for an answer about whether he got the job or not.
“The first thing that came to mind was, ‘Oh man, I really want this job. I’m in London. They’re in LA. I’ll be waiting on the phone all day. It didn’t happen. haven’t produced in a while. I’m going to want to. I’m going to think about it all day.'”
But the ‘Mandalorian’ star said that all changed once he checked his phone and noticed a bunch of congratulatory texts.
“When I looked at my phone…I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I got the job!'” Pascal said.
Pascal’s ‘The Last of Us’ co-star Bella Ramsey told HBO that when she was cast on the show, it was also a “surreal” experience – but for a completely different reason.
The Hollywood Reporter explained in a January profile on the show that Ramsey was cast rather quickly for an actor who was not known, which gave her a severe case of impostor syndrome.
“What am I doing here?” she remembers thinking about going out. “‘You picked the wrong person’ – it’s all spinning in your head.”
Well, if that anxiety kept him awake at night, at least we know what Pascal would have suggested he do.
