Paul Gascoigne scored for Rangers in a heartwarming moment in the Match of Legends against Luis Figo’s World XI at Ibrox on Sunday.

The match was staged to celebrate the Glasgow club’s 150th anniversary.

Gascoigne enjoyed the celebrations after his goal

Alex McLeish took the dugout as Rangers manager.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Jorg Albertz, Barry Ferguson and Ronald De Boer were all in the squad alongside Gazza.

The World XI team was managed by Luis Figo.

It also featured Kaka, Claude Makelele, Eric Abidal, Gheorge Hagi and Robert Pires.

Rangers took the lead in the 39th minute through an emphatic header from Shota Arveladze.

Carlos Marchena equalized early in the second half, returning home on a fine ball from Kaka.

Nuno Gomes made it 2-1 in the World XI before Ricardo Quaresma added a third with a stunning strike.

Quaresma rolled back the years to finish off their boot exterior in a stylish fashion.

Then came Gazza’s moment.

The ball was rolled across the box towards the England icon, who totally missed his shot and put his hands to his head.

One of the World XI defenders reacted by generously returning the ball to him.

Gascoigne scuffed a second shot, which tipped over the line as the World XI keeper dipped dramatically over the top.

The celebrations were hearty as the whole stadium rose to applaud a true legend of the game.

The match ended 3-2.
