New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick angered fans Sunday with his determined challenge to the flag during a call he disputed during the Pats’ game against the Miami Dolphins.
The Patriots were working for a first down, and running back Rhamondre Stevenson scrambled to try to make it happen. The referees, however, ruled that Stevenson was short. But Belichick completely disagreed with that assessment.
The coach removed his red challenge flag from his right sock, and as he stood there trying to decide whether or not to take the challenge, a referee came in with a boundary line and made s ‘to dismiss Belichick.
This added annoyance caused the coach to make his decision by defiantly throwing his challenge flag onto the grass right in front of the referee.

Belichick lost his challenge, and officials let their initial decision stand. And things went downhill from there as the Pats lost the game 24-17.
But while it was clear that Belichick was disgusted by the whole thing, his flag-throwing challenge had fans rolling in the aisles.
